Fixing Google reminders suddenly stop displaying

I am using Google reminders since they were introduced. I really love them.

Today they suddenly stopped displaying on the web interface, although the Reminders entry still showed up in the My calendars list and was enabled. A quick look at the Calendars app on my smart phone showed that the reminders actually were still there, they just did not show up.

After googling around I found someone fixing that kind of issue by changing the time zone. That did not help in my case though. What has fixed the issue was, changing the displaying language to English (US). To do so open Settings. Then on the General tab change Language to English (US):

I hope that this will be of help for others, too. Please report back if this helped you.

How to open Excel files in separate windows

I like to be able to aero snap Excel files to compare its content or to have one as a reference for editing the other.

However in Office 2010 for example, the work books open in the same Excel instance not permitting this easy viewing. Using the view menu to tile the document windows within the application is not that flexible and easy to use.

All you have to do is to save this content to a file with the ending .reg and import it to the Registry by double-clicking (you have to remove " (x86)" from the program files path is you are using the 64-bit Office version):

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\command]@="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Microsoft Office\\Office14\\EXCEL.EXE\" \"%1\"""command"=hex(7):78,00,62,00,27,00,42,00,56,00,35,00,21,00,21,00,21,00,21,00,\  21,00,21,00,21,00,21,00,21,00,4d,00,4b,00,4b,00,53,00,6b,00,45,00,58,00,43,\  00,45,00,4c,00,46,00,69,00,6c,00,65,00,73,00,3e,00,56,00,69,00,6a,00,71,00,\  42,00,6f,00,66,00,28,00,59,00,38,00,27,00,77,00,21,00,46,00,49,00,64,00,31,\  00,67,00,4c,00,51,00,20,00,22,00,25,00,31,00,22,00,00,00,00,00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.8\shell\Open\ddeexec]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.8\shell\Open\ddeexec2\application]@="Excel"

Now all your Excel files open in an own application window. Enjoy.
